{Introducing}: Banana Baby Shoppe

This is Hannah. She’s outgoing, opinionated, and optimistic. If there’s a job to be done, Hannah’s up to doing it and she’ll get it done right. She is one driven, but fun-loving young lady! She’s an excellent seamstress and can do things I can’t even imagine doing…like copying a pattern off an article of clothing and having it turn out perfectly! Her latest enterprise is driving a big Ford truck around running errands for the Newport Industrial Fabrication business across the road from my parent’s house. She’s got lots of spunk.

This is Stephanie. She’s sweet, genuine and giving. If you ever need a babysitter, this is the girl for the job. Stephanie loves babies and children and they usually end up loving her back. Stephanie has a gentle way about her, but she’s pretty determined too. (I don’t know anyone else who makes their sister 60 homemade cloth diapers at cost, but I’m getting ahead of myself now.) Stephanie is creative, imaginative and pays attention to detail.

And this is my mom. She’s had thirteen babies and now that they’re all almost basically grown-up, she’s busy loving her fourteen grandbabies (and hoping for even more). She is an excellent seamstress, homemade hot cocoa maker, and loves to read good books. She’s the kind of crazy giver that opens her home to entire (kind of big) families for weeks at a time, because they need a place to stay. I’ve always thought of my mom as the most hospitable woman I have ever known.

And besides the fact that these three beautiful women are related to each other, another common thread is that they are all busy expanding their growing online enterprise Banana Baby Shoppe. Their stuff is incredible. Handcrafted. Exceptionally tasteful. High-quality. Purposeful. (And you can have your stuff made to order – just right for you!)

What is there not to like?

Stephanie is the diaper-maker. This is the newest line in their business and currently unavailable at their online shop. If you are interested you can contact Stephanie with inquiries at: bananababyshoppe@gmail.com

The following pictures are of my homemade diapers. The diaper is made out of waterproof material (no more plastic plants? Yes, please!) and lined with flannel for comfort. Inserts can be sewn into the diaper if you’re interested in having it all-in-one, or you can have the inserts made separately like I did.

My sister Hannah specializes in burp cloths. These are the best burp cloths ever! What especially sets them apart from burp cloths you’ll find in a department store is their size. They are all approximately 12″ wide and 20″ long. Since my son is a major spitter, I have been delighted with my large burp cloths! The flannel soaks up far more spit than cotton and their size makes it possible to get by with just one every day or two. The total bonus is that they’re fashionably cute with their ribbon, ruffle and button embellishments.

Since the above burp cloths are mine and not for sale, here are some pictures of burp cloths you could order right away! IMG_4045 IMG_4046 IMG_4098 IMG_4101 IMG_4107 IMG_4109Big enough for two babies!

Stephanie also specializes in making nursing covers. Her covers are big enough to cover but not so huge you feel all swallowed up in them. There is a wired cord at the top for better coverage and each cover has an adjustable strap so you can suit up to your preferences. Each cover is made out of at least two coordinating fabrics and can be embellished with buttons, ribbons, a flower, or to order.

My mom makes beautiful blankets. Here is one she is currently selling (more will soon be listed at Banana Baby Shoppe!).

She made this funky monkey blanket for our Leo and we love it! (Not for sale.)

And then there are the genius car seat covers. Talk about one brilliant idea! They will protect your little one from sun glares, rain, wind, snow, you name it! These covers simply strap on with velcro and can be moved or adjusted as necessary. And like everything else at Banana Baby – they’re plain stinking cute! I was so happy to get mine and not have to worry about blanket-draping (I, uh, dropped the blanket on the ground basically every time I had to use a blanket. That gets really old fast, especially if the blanket you just dropped on the ground was freshly laundered.)

Christmas is a week away!

If it’s too late for a Christmas gift, a new year (of birthdays and baby celebrations) is coming.
